1. Breelib Inhalation System, Instructions for use
With therapy that you breathe in, treatment can get straight to work where it's needed to improve blood flow deep in the lungs
For problems affecting the lungs like PAH, a treatment you can inhale is an attractive option.3
While it may be easier to swallow a pill, inhaled therapy works directly where it is needed to improve blood flow.2,4
Less drug also ends up in parts of the body where it isn’t needed, so nebulized therapy may result in fewer unwanted side effects.5

Blood returns to the heart after delivering oxygen to the body
Blood gets pumped to the lungs via the pulmonary arteries to pick up a fresh supply of oxygen
Blood returns to the heart from the lungs
Oxygen-rich blood is pumped back out to the body
In PAH narrowing of the blood vessels restricts blood flow to the lungs.1
With less blood flow to the lungs, less oxygen is delivered to the body. This can leave the patient feeling breathless.2,3

BreelibTM uses vibrating mesh technology.
Inside BreelibTM is a mesh with thousands of tiny funnel-like holes.
When the mesh vibrates, the liquid drug gets pushed through the funnel, turning it into a fine mist of tiny droplets which are the right size to breathe in.
This makes sure that the drug is delivered directly where it is needed, to the lungs.
BreelibTM also co-ordinates forming the mist with breathing patterns.
This makes BreelibTM very efficient at delivering the right dose of drug in a short amount of time.
Inside BreelibTM is a metal mesh with thousands of tiny holes in it
- each hole is smaller than the width of a human hair.
When the mesh vibrates, the liquid drug gets pushed through these tiny holes.
This turns it into a fine mist of tiny droplets which are the right size for you to breathe in.
This makes sure that the drug is delivered directly where it is needed.
A pulsing green light means that the battery is charging.
When the power LED is constantly lit green, the battery is fully charged and you can unplug the base unit.
Your BreelibTM is now ready to be assembled.
An orange light means BreelibTM has around one day of charge left.
You should charge the base unit the next chance you get.
Start by pushing the mouthpiece into the base until - first at the an angle and then straight down.
Next slot in the nebulizer unit straight down - the cap should always be closed.
Make sure that both sides are fully clipped in.
When both parts are firmly in place your BreelibTM is ready to be filled.
Place BreelibTM on a flat surface – use the BreelibTM case if you like.
Before you start, make sure BreelibTM is switched off – do not turn it on while filling.
Open the cap so you can see the drug dosing system.
Open the ampoule containing your medicine.
Use a pipette to transfer it into the center of the drug dosing system. – do not put the pipette inside the drug dosing system When you are done, replace the cap securely and keep it closed until you have finished taking this dose Only fill BreelibTM just before you want to use it – it should always be empty when being stored or transported.
Make sure BreelibTM is turned off.
When you open the cap, you will see the drug dosing system inside.
Using a pipette, transfer your medicine from the ampoule into the center of the drug dosing system.
The pipette shouldn't go inside the drug dosing system.
When it has all been transferred, securely replace the cap.
Keep it closed until you have finished taking your dose.
After use, take BreelibTM apart straight away and get rid of any leftover drug by shaking the nebulizer unit upside down with the cap open.
As with scale forming in a kettle, tap water can cause mineral build-up.
If the mesh gets clogged, your BreelibTM can’t work so it’s important to only use distilled water for cleaning Use 100 ml of distilled water to rinse the cap, drug dosing system and underneath of the nebulizer unit.
With another 100 ml, rinse the inside and outside of the mouthpiece.
The mouthpiece has a special filter that needs to be dry before use – tap the mouthpiece and gently press the back of it on a clean dry towel.
Leave the mouthpiece and nebulizer unit, with the cap open, to air dry.
After each use, take BreelibTM apart.
Gently shake the nebulizer with the cap open to get rid of any leftover drug.
Rinse the mouthpiece and nebulizer unit with 100 ml of distilled water each.
Only use distilled water – tap water can cause the mesh in BreelibTM to become blocked.
Never use a brush to clean the nebulizer unit or poke it as this can damage the tiny holes of the mesh.
Tap the front of the mouthpiece and gently press the back end on a clean dry towel to get rid of any excess water.
Leave the mouthpiece and nebulizer unit (with the cap open) to air dry.
Never use a dishwasher, vaporizer or microwave to clean BreelibTM.
You need to disinfect BreelibTM once a week.
Fill a bowl with normal washing-up liquid and distilled water – never use tap water.
Put the nebulizer unit and mouthpiece in the bowl so they are fully covered by the water – leave for 5 minutes, occasionally stirring.
Take them out of the bowl and rinse with distilled water as usual.
Place both parts in a pan of distilled water and bring to the boil.
After 10 minutes, remove with tongs and leave to cool down on a clean dry towel.
Get rid of any excess water as you normally would, including tapping the mouthpiece and leave to air dry on the towel overnight.
Put the nebulizer unit and mouthpiece in a bowl of washing-up liquid and distilled water for 5 minutes.
Take each part out and rinse with distilled water.
Then place in a pan of distilled water and boil for 10 minutes.
Remove the parts and leave to cool down on a clean, dry towel – and leave to air dry overnight.
